MYC London’s first 11-to-16 residential ran for three days in August 2024 at Ferny Croft Activity Centre. The group comprised 28 youngsters supported by our local scholars. On arrival everyone was assigned to one of three teams. The teams undertook several activites, such as, woodland mountain-bike circuit, high-rope elements, air-rifle range and other mixed initiative activites, which were all scored on team performance.

Operational duties were built into the score. At breakfast, lunch and dinner teams handled serving and cleaning up; teams were scored for their effort, teamwork and final results. All the food was prepared by our amazing team of volunteers.

Evenings gathered the whole cohort at the site’s central fire-pit. Our scholars delivered motivational reminders followed by a quiz covering general knowledge. Free time after the quiz allowed football, table-tennis or quiet socialising in the lodge. On the final afternoon the scores were tallied up and medals were given out to the top team.

We look forward to the next youth residential in August 2025.
